Curriculum
The Nixa Gifted Program is intended for the academically gifted student, and is designed to meet the students' special needs, not as a reward. It is based upon a continued commitment to foster the development of each gifted student's potential by providing acceleration and enrichment through a qualitatively different environment.
Students who qualify, will attend ALERT one day a week in 1st and 2nd grade. Kindergarten students will attend 1/2 day per week starting in the 2nd semester of school. While in ALERT, students will be involved in various learning experiences that will explore critical and creative thinking. During this time, students will be engaged in creative problem solving activities, team building, leadership skills, creative writing activities, independent studies, and investigations.
